I've just driven past the Island Bay site and noticed what was probably the reason for the extended outage - new panels are now in place on the site.

Maybe they'll now have a few spare panels spare to put on a new site to cover Vogeltown! :-)

Hey Taniwha, driving home today I noticed a new site going in on SH2 near BP - looked like the current style Vodafone cabinets being put into place under the mast. There are currently about half a dozen new Vodafone sites on the go in Wgtn, there might still be hope of a Vogeltown site yet! :-)

Breaker Bay or Houghton Bay are both closer and there are no immediate plans for coverage in either place.

Hi Dawne,
So what sort of data speeds do you get over there? Is it just dialup thats available? Do people use Satellite?

Hi ya Dis,
We mainly have dial up at anything between 33.6kbps to 48 kbps. The local schools and Air Chathams have just recently hooked up with satalite but at about $250 a month its out of everyones price range. The local Island trust is looking into setting something up for everyone to use at a reasonable cost, hopefully this all goes to plan.
