Has anyone used the PC link software with the Sam A680. Have tried existing version on PC link 1 I had and it says does not support this phone. Have rang Samsung technical guys 3 times now and they say latest version from Sam web site does support A680, so I downloanded all 16M and guess what, same error, this phone not supported. Phone is seen by PC and will work as modem, so drivers are fine. But unable to sync contacts/photos etc.

Will work as a modem? As far as I was aware the A680 was no tethered data. That said the last phone I tested with was very early on before it was properly released.. If it is tethered data, that makes life alot easier.

As for the sync software, last status, yes as far as I'm aware the PC Link software doesn't work with it, however it does look like a new versoin 'may' have been posted last week for the X609.
If the version you downloaded wasn't the X609 one it may be worth giving it a go. Another 16.4mb however.

Hi Jared, Sorry when I said works as a modem I refering to the fact that the USB port had detected the phone correctly so all drivers must be correct. Can you advise web site address where you have seen new X609 software? I have been reffered to http://au.samsungmobile.com by Samsung, but it only has N361 software which is not compatible.

Didn't know about that one, but the one I normally use is http://www.samsung.com.au/mobile

It's not the most intuitive site. But if you choose X609, on one of the flash pages it'll have a link to download. Same scenario for the sync download links with the other phones.

Hi MFR001, just curious how you got along with the X609 version? Did it work or same problem as the other ones?

Hi Jared
I have tried the x609 software from Samsung site and same problem, I even found a international Samsung site with a different version that was in Spanish and said it was for the A680. I downloaded that and still got an error which look to be saying the same thing (although I cant speak Spanish!). I have once again put the problem back to Cellect, who supply the genuine cables (without software) for a resolution. Does APT do a cable compatible with the 680 with sync software?
I can only think that it is software related as can see the phone in device manager and the software sees the phone and tries to sync, that is when the "not compatible" error comes up

Our existing DAT-USB-N181 cable will do for the phone interface itself (com port/modem to phone etc), however yes, sync is still an issue.

We did test a phone running the US Firmware with the US Susteen Datapilot sync software (NZ Version bundled with our Sanyo 4920/8100/7400 cables), and it was able to talk to the phone phone and everything appeared to work normally.

So 'potentially' a new version of datapilot could be made to support the NZ Firmware, but there's no plans at this stage until we've recouped the developement costs for the 3 Sanyo models.

Other than that, yes, it's down to waiting to see if Samsung release anything.

I've just done some digging, was that the Spanish one for the A685?

Just an interesting side note jumping through the global site and checking filenames.
20041025152345265_PC_Link_ENG.exe - A670 - English
20041025154003500_PC_Link_2000_ES.exe - A685 - Spanish
20041025154533203_PC_Link_2000_ES.exe - A605 - Spanish
20041030105048250_PClink2003_A603_reliance.exe - A603 - India

Pretty well all the v1.0 stuff was released in Oct last year, but the A603 Reliance (45 odd mb from memory) appears to be the newest I could spot. Whether it would recognise an NZ phone is another question alltogether. Plus the fact it's not in english. :/

Yes the Spanish version (19 M worth) said it was specifically for the A680. There were two versions the PClink 1.0 and the PC link 2000. I tried both. Fingers crossed now that Samsung come back with something via Cellect
