Would like to use my Vodafone NZ Nokia 3315 in Singapore/Malaysia using the StarHub prepay sim. Tried it last year but did not work . . . kept asking for security no.
Would like to try again this year . . . how do I enable it to work? Is this called "unlocking". How do I do this seamlessly . . . free???

If you purchased the phone in NZ then it shouldnt be locked to the network.

Nokia's usually display 'sim not accepted' or something similar if you place a foreign sim in them when they are locked, as opposed to 'security code'...

Your security code is 12345 by default untill you change it.

Vodafone can let you know if its locked and unlock it for you with the IMEI number...

all nokia phone has a feature that lock the phone just in case it was stolen and used together with new unknown sim card that the phone has not been encountered before. the security code could be 12345 or 00000 default. the phone allows 3 attempts i think.

i remember in the past when i used to have nokia, and using the software logomanager for nokia, with data cable, connected to pc, you can check the phone security pin.

anyhow, strange enough, this phone security is not on default.

If its a 3315 purchased in NZ the unlock code is 12345 by default.

In my experience it will never stop giving you chances to guess the sec. code. You can start at 00000 and go to 99999 to get it right.

The sim pin will block you after 3 attempts before it asks for the PUK code.
