Anyone know a wellington retailer, or a NZ e-Tailer, that has some decent nokia wired earphones or headphones.

The ones that came with my phone are cheap shaite, and the foam crackles and doesn't stay in my ear for long, and my phone is unstable listening via bluetooth.

Any nicer options out there?

Lol! I meant buy a 5600 once they come out...

Bluetooth!? Is it really all that? I've used it to grab peoples address books before, but never found it anything more than another connectivity option.

Anyway, I'll follow up with Jama tomorrow!

Felix, i gotta show you what i'm doing with bluetooth sometime.

the most useful is providing a data connection for my pda, so i can be working down at the cafe, or by the lagoon, while my clients think i'm at my desk :-)

Hi taniwha,

There is a small adapter that converts the Nokia´s phone jack to a standard earphone mini-jack, 2.5 mm or 3.0mm (I´m not so sure)
So, you can choose any other comercial ear/headphone.
Once I saw it at Cincular Store in USA. I think it will give you more options than using Nokia´s earphones.

Chico - that would be just perfect.
If you ever see one again, can you note the brandname?

Not quite..
nokia's port is that multipin proprietary "pop-port" connector on the bottom of their phones.

The other headset port on the nokias is mono.

Are we getting warmer??

http://www.allmobileaccessories.co.uk/buy/nokia_ca-55_adaptor.shtml

Pretty pricey though, and it looks like it's only for car-kits...

If you don't have any luck there, try emailing the guys at

http://www.pccard.co.nz/

Am I helping?

Hi Guys,

I´ve made a research on the Net and found:

http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/2208.htm

I think it was something like that I saw last month on Cingular Store in US.

Although this one is aimed to adapt a handsfree device (it should also have a microphone connection and I´m not sure if it is stereo), but, if it supports stereo, it could be useful to you.

almost.. that's a pop-port -> standard headset adapter.
it's not stereo. i'm wanting to plug in stereo headphones/earphones so i can listen to music.

There's a standard headset plug on the top of my nokia, so i can use that, but it's only mono. The popport on the bottom puts out stereo audio from the music player, but it's got that proprietarty nokia pop port

my other option is bluetooth stereo headphones, which the phone supports, but if a sms arrives during a song, then the phone sometimes crashes. One time is started squealing into my poor ears.
