I am aware of the sale of and use of 3 watt signal boosters and repeaters forn all networks including CDMA 1x.

Does any one know of users of these in NZ?

All so do you need Telecoms permission??

My understanding is that the boosters for CDMA are a bit like snake oil... but I could be wrong!

There is no real benefit to using 3Watt boosters on CDMA. The coverage from a CDMA cell site is already greater than GSM or TDMA. Also CDMA has cell breathing - this means power out of a cell site is directly proportional to the power being transmitted back in from handset/device. So, if you used a 3Watt booster the cell transmit radius would shrink dramatically. You can get awesome gains from using external antennas. Check out www.cellutronics.co.nz
