hi
i am going on holiday to australia next week and since i got hammered by roaming charges last year i am thinking of getting an unlocked prepay phone from DSE in australia for under $100, my question is will a G2 or G3 phone work here on prepay as well. any other advice would be appreciated

You would have to ask when you are AU when you purchase the handset

Just ask if the handset is SIM locked

why not buy an Un Sim locked handset here in NZ before you leave, and just buy a local sim card while you are over their

If you get one over there also ensure it isn't Network locked... often they (ie: Optus) will let you swap sims but only within their network - so when you come home & bung in a sim from here your buggered.

I have a K800i you can have if your in Welly and wanna pick it up later in the week? Originally bought in Aussie as Optus prepay but have used with Voda in NZ & Aussie since (so yeah, it's unlocked lol).

You can also rent a handset from the airport (I know Voda do it) but not sure of the costs - may be cheaper than buying a new h/set if you don't need one?
