I've got a SE Aino (U10a) & I'd like to be able to read the books from Project Gutenberg but can't use any of the readers they have suggested there as the Aino doesn't run any of the smartphone platforms (or is even a smartphone full stop).

My first thought is downloading the html formatted files of the books and use Opera Mini to read the books, as using Opera Mini is very nice on the Aino. Yet so far as I can see there is no way to view the files offline with Opera Mini, any other ideas?

I would not recommend the Opera route - trying to read an eBook on something which doesn't remember where you were 'up to' takes a lot of the convenience and utility out of reading the eBook.

I did try to find a Java reader back before I got a smartphone, but don't remember finding one. If I did, it was a paid app and I was too tight to buy it :-)

I agree, but opera would've been ok for reading short novels/essays etc... and if the html is formatted well I can at least just remember easily what chapter I was up to
