2G (GSM) phones will not work on Telecom. You need to have a 850mhz 3G (WCDMA) phone to connect.

99.9% of the dual sim phones you see on TradeMe only do 2G GSM.

As noted by cokemaster, XT is a 3G WCDMA network.

The only reputable dual sim phone that does XT and Vodafone is the Acer DX900. Sim 1 does 3G 850 for Telecom XT. Sim 2 will do 2Degrees and Vodafone's 2G GSM networks.

Here's an auction for an Acer here:

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Mobile-phones/Vodafone/Other/auction-265714158.htm

- Telstra HTC Touch Pro2 - Energy ROM WM6.5.5 20 Oct/Cyanogen Mod Froyo 2.2 - R.I.P
- AT&T Galaxy S Captivate 16GB on XT (now with brother)
- Samsung Galaxy S2 on XT- Runs ICS 4.0.3 Resurrection Remix 9.2
- Business Hours - Work In The Electricity Industry, After Hours - DJ/Turntablist - Will Scratch Vinyl For Free'
- What's next??? S3?

There is *NO* handset in the market that will deliver you the ability to use nationwide 3G on both networks, regardless of whether it's single or dual SIM.

The Acer is the only phone in existance I'm aware of that will has dual SIM's and will work on XT. You will only have GSM on Vodafone however and not 3G.

Might be asking a bit much to have 3g on both as they use completely different network styles/frequencies.

Exactly the same network - just different frequencies.

Also, when you see a handset with "dual SIM", "TV" and an iPhone-style screen - it screams FAKE PRODUCT wth no warranty of quality.

I've also tried acer.co.nz but they don't have listed anywhere any of their mobile phones, or sell directly to the public anyway

I don't believe they were launched in AU/NZ so you'll have to rely on an import device.

$420 for that last one was an absolute steal, you'll probably pay double that to import one brand new.

It's on Trademe on and off with Buy Now Prices ranging from $850.00 to $900.00, so when i saw the auction i thought whoa.. that's a bloody good price and it eventually sold for a really good price. Double the price for brand new is pretty much what it'll be.
