Hi,

Need some advice please...

I am on the look for a new phone...

Considering the iPhone, but what else would people recommend...

Need the phone to connect to Exchange 2003...

An possibly Remote desktop...

In New Plymouth, and on the Vodafone Network...

Any ideas on what to do?

iPhone can do Exchange connectivity, but I'm unsure about RDC.

In any scenario, if you can, wait until the 28th. Apple is supposedly announcing new mobile devices on the 27th.

The only thing on the 27th relating to the iPhone will be iPhone OS 4.0. There is nothing to suggest new phones are being announced. That will happen at WWDC.

Edit: well perhaps the Verizon iPhone but that won't be a new model.

I'd still wait and see. Only a week out, anyway.

And AFAIK there has been NO confirmation of what the event will be about. All that is known is the date and the tagline of the event. Anything else is pure speculation.

Which the rumors and speculation normally come from people that have connections inside apple, the last couple of years i have been keeping an eye on the rumors they have been right every time the only things that are ever wrong is occasionally a feature, but every time they said a new iphone, mac or ipod is or is not coming they have been right so its usually a justified thing to go by

Also in regards to remote dekstop you can do it through a VNC client

Has the iPhone 3GS really been out that long for Apple to announce a new phone at WWDC???

I would go for the Iphone 3GS. I use this phone and it's excellent. I had the HTC Hero before that and it's not a scratch on the Iphone. Everything is so smooth and quick on the 3GS plus the apps are so much more polished on the Iphone than any other phone.

I think you're dreaming if you expect a new iPhone model to be announced next week...

There seems to be some misunderstanding from my answer to the OP. Let's clear it up:

I DID mention Apple is supposedly announcing new mobile devices on the 27th.

I DID NOT say I'm expecting a new iPhone model to be announced at the event.

All that I did was alert the OP to the fact that it's not generally a good idea to buy Apple products so close to an Apple event.

In other news, sources close to the matter told me that Transonic is going to release a 3D eBook slate that will compete with the 4G iPhone.

It will have every feature you can ask for, including convincing others to go on dates with you.

I believe these rumors are all true, because they're on the internet.

The HTC HD2 will do exchange, and remote desktop, both are native functions.

Its screen size (4.3inch) and resolution (WVGA) make it considerably superior to the iPhone for this kind of use.

If you want to know more about the HD2 fire away, I've had mine for 6 or 7 weeks now as I got it at first release, so I'm quite familiar with the device. Its hardware is top notch, so much so that its confirmed for upgrade to Windows Mobile 7 when it comes later this year, so no particular need to worry about being lumped with an outdated handset in the short-medium term.

But would you rather be using RD on 480x320 pixels or 800x480?
