i gave my friend in nz my old samsung g600 handset...its unlocked as i was able to make calls with it here in the uk with another providers sim...anyway i sent it to her and shes trying to put her vodafone nz sim into it and its asking for a network code ... before she can do anything with it

am i right that the nz vodafone network code is 53001  will this work ?

she called vodafone nz they said she needs the uk orange code which is 1111

i didnt think this was right as the phone is unlocked and surely the code the phone is asking for is for the network it needs to be connected to ?

so anyway we tried the orange 1111 its too short...im waiting for her to try 53001 or are we on the totally wrong track ?!

any info greatly received thank you !!!!

If the handset is asking for a network code then it's locked. It could be "unlocked" to certain networks in the UK but it's certainly locked.

Yes there's heaps. Whereabouts is your friend in NZ? That's network locked, just need to be unlocked. If she's on the shore I can unlock it for her for a cup of wild bean coffee. ;)
