If you do a soft reset on your Pocket PC will it work? Is the Bluetooth connection really finished when you start another one?

I did a reset on the PPC, and deleted the SSA blue tooth connection,

Renabled the SSA connection , made sure active sync was off, run WModem, selected Blutooth , taped start and the run the SSA dial up connection on the laptop.

the lights on the WModem prog lightup and then

It says Registering your computer on the network and then
Error 734: the PPP link control protocol was terminated

Arrrg , I'm all hot itchy and phychopathic now any help would be appreciated

Hmm. You realise the i-mate Jam is a Pocket PC, not a Smartphone, right?

Anyway, you don't need WMODEM running to make it work. From your PC, simply connect to the SSA, without running WMODEM on your Pocket PC.

I may have some similar experience to add, having spent far too long trying to get GPRS running from my laptop via Bluetooth through a Treo650.

After gettting the Bluetooth working using the guides on Geekzone (thanks!), I could not understand why I could not connect, getting similar Error 734: PPP messages as novahux.

To cut a long story short, I found I first had to use the in-built web browser on the Treo650, make a connection, and start a page view, then turn on Bluetooth with DUN, and hey presto, it worked i.e PC--> Bluetooth --> Treo650 --> Vodafone GPRS-->Internet!

What's more, if I delayed too long between doing this and establishing the Bluetooth connection, I would have to repeat the exercise!

All I can say is, the Treo is not remaining with me much longer!

Ciao.

A tip: Call CS and ask them to check if the wildcard " * " APN is present in the switch but if prepay only ask if you have credit.

If the this APN is missing on the network side no internet traffic will flow and also you will not be able to get a connection

Please note that '*' will only work in NZ when using your phone as a modem. You need to use "www.vodafone.net.nz" if you intend to roam. p.s. GPRS roaming is a little pricey.
