Anyone get fMMS working on a Nokia N900? I hear reports of it working around the world, however I can't seem to get it working, here in New Zealand.

I have installed fAPN and are using the following settings:
APN: live.vodafone.com
MMSC: http://pxt.vodafone.net.nz/pxtsend
MMS Proxy: 172.30.38.3
MMS Port 8080

I get the APN time out error.

I have yet to figure this out myself, but will do by the end of this day....
I'll come back with the answer.

If you have any more questions regarding the N900, I suggest you ask them in the 'Nokia N900 - Users Thread'....as that is where all the Geekzone N900 users hang out, and there is a wealth of info available there.,

Steps to getting MMS on the N900;

1) Install fMMS and fAPN
2) Run 'fAPN', and 'Add new APN'
3) Name the new APN: live.vodafone.com
4) Exit fAPN
5) Run 'Settings', and select 'Internet Connections', and then 'Connections'
6) Highlight 'live.vodafone.com' and select 'Edit'
7) Enter the following;
- Connection name: live.vodafone.com
- Connection type: Packet data
8) Select Next
9) Enter the following:
- Access Point Name: live.vodafone.com
- Leave the login and password blank
10) Select Next
11) Select Advanced
12) Enter the following:
- Use proxy: Tick that box
- HTTP proxy: 172.30.38.3
- Port number: 8080
- Leave the rest blank
13) Select Save
14) Select Finish
15) Run fMMS
16) Select Configuration, and enter the following:
- APN: live.vodafone.com
- MMSC: http://pxt.vodafone.net.nz/pxtsend
- Your phonenumber: +6421......... (include +64 at begining, and leave out first 0 of your number)
- Resize image width: 640
- Connection mode: Rude
17) Select Save
18) Done.

Now send a MMS to test.

FYI
Havoc = Force connection using default APN
Rude = Force disconnection of default APN, connect to MMS/live.vodafone.com APN, send MMS, then disconnect and reconnect to default APN

No Scott, to what I read Nokia are not officially going to write an MMS app for the N900...instead they are just supporting the community backed fMMS app.

Maybe different for MeeGo though.

THe latest version of fMMS now supports automatic configuration, and built in APN, so no need for fAPN anymore...
Also, using Havoc mode, it leaves your default APN connected, and also connects the MMS APN in the background so sends the MMS without disconnecting your internet APN...awesome!

download using the N900 App manager.....but you have got to enable the devel repositories as its in there...soon to be promoted to testing, then Maemo Extras.

Hi guys,

I have an issue connecting my N900 with MMS. I followed the instructions to the dot but I have no luck. I am aware that a new version of fmms has been created since the above instruction were posted but still pretty much the same. When I attempt to send an mms I have the following error on fmms Error: -2 Name or service not known.

Any help would be great.
