Hi all

Just wondering if Vodafones GSM900 cell sites are also used for the 900 3G service?  As it is the same frequency I wondered if they use the same antennas etc and just change or add the 3G equipment.  So are the sites actually working in both 2G & 3G at the same time.

Cheers
Andy

They are the same sites.

I believe the standard configuration is a panel for 900 GSM and another panel for 900 WCDMA. On the handful of omnidirectional GSM sites there are additional sectorised panels for 900 WCDMA.

Thanks. So it is a change of rack gear rather than installing new aerials.

No, many sites have new panels fitted as well.
