Hi All

Well after apple telling me it looks like August is when they will hear about the iphone 4 i am going to get the samsung i9000

I am looking at one from mobicity.co.nz

I have done a search on this company here and it seems everybody is using mobicity.com.au, is there any reason why not to use mobicity.co.nz or are they the same company?

Thanks in advance

They are a very reputable company. They've registered with my site as I have only heard of good things in terms of service, pricing and again, service!

No worries, you won't go wrong. I am hoping they start putting up some exclusive bargains on my site to benefit everyone else here at Geekzone.

Its basically a NZ portal to the aussie site.
All "Telstra NextG" has been renamed to "Telecom XT" and then shipping cost still is the same, so it appears its still stock coming in from overseas.

ALso despite operating on a .co.nz domain name, they arent a NZ company and therefore void protection under the CGA etc?

Does this mobicity.co.nz incur NZ GST on top of the order price? http://www.mobicity.co.nz/samsung-i9000-galaxy-s.html 8GB version is only $880 incl shipping. Cheapest NZ I have found is about $1000.

As eXDee noted it is an Australian company so the phone will be shipped into NZ. The price does not include GST as they are Aussie based so you maybe hit with that when the phone comes into the country. Its a bit random, some people seem to be charged and others don't.

Re the CGA I don't think it matters where the goods are sold from but as they don't appear to have a physical presence here I don't see how it could be enforced.

I considered this but i dont think having a .co.nz domain name and dealing out of australia makes them an new zealand trader/seller.

The first issue would be whether the terms and conditions you agree to when you buy from them specifies the applicable law/juristiction. If you agree it is Australia then the CGA wouldn't apply and you would have to rely on and Aussie equivalent if there is one.

If they don't mention applicable law then at least you can argue NZ law applies and I don't believe the CGA distinquishes betwen purchases made here or from overseas businesses. The real problem is if the company does not have a company incorporated in NZ and Mobicity don't, then you will have to try and enforce any rights you may have against the Australian company which will be difficult, costly and time consuming.

I think you'll be happy. From what I've been hearing it's an amazing phone. I watched a few youtube vids on it and it looks like a great iphone alternative.

GST is handled by Mobicity providing you buy from the .co.nz domain. I sent them an e-mail regarding the same issue and their reply was..

Thanks for your email.

All GST costs are taken on by Mobicity, so you are not liable to pay anymore than what is requested once you checkout on our website.

Thanks

Same same.  Not too happy with the iPhone 4 reviews so ordered a Galaxy S last night via mobicity.co.nz

Have you received shipping info yet?  Just wondering how long it will be until I get this beast!

Would you need to pay any duties and taxes on these phones? I know you pay GST but the phone is still exported from another country?
