Hi there,

Long time reader, first time poster....

In September I'm heading over to the US for about a month and I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas what options I might have for purchasing a SIM card in the States.

I noticed there were a couple of posts regarding this topic, however they were a little outdated so I just wanted to get an idea of what's currently available.

I'm mainly interested in mobile data. I have a Nokia N95 8GB that I want to be able to use to upload photos and surf the net on. From my understanding I can go to a mobile provider in the US, purchase a SIM card, fill out a form, chuck in the SIM and it will just work right? I'll be able to call and text phones other phones in the US and presumably connect to their mobile network?
If I want to call and text phones back in NZ, i'll have to pay whatever international rates they have in the US?

So is it actually that simple? What sort of prices am I looking at? I had a quick look on the T-Mobile site and noticed all the plans seem to have unlimited mobile data. Am I able to use this?

Would be great if anyone has an information on this sorta thing or they've travelled to the States recently.

Cheers,
Jared
