i have the nokia 6255i with verizon. verizon has a setting so i cannot set an MP3 that i took of my computer as a ringtone. where can i get the software so i cant over-ride verizons stupid setting?

The handset is a nokia and Nokia would of written the firmware

from what i gather, this feature is disabled on some units due to copyright issues (right or wrong, thats another debate).

Possibly the labels give Verizon a better deal on ringtones if they choose to disable Mp3 ringtones?

Perhaps they chose to do it themselves to prevent users from getting free ringtones?

Sounds like you are stuck though...
