My brother gave the Motorola E770v about five years ago as a present and I was quite young. I did not hold on to the box and lost all cables and discs that came with my phone. I have many photos and videos on my phone now that I want to transfer to my PC but I am unable to do so as I have no idea how. I don't want to lose five years worth of photo's and videos. Today I bought a DKE-2 cable to connect my phone to the computer, I don't know technology very well and was unaware that I would need to do more than this for everything to work. I downloaded software here http://www.motorola.com/consumers/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=bda09ec8009a0210VgnVCM1000008806b00aRCRD but this did not assist me in anyway. I have no idea how to retrieve the files. I do not have the money to order MPT and am wondering how to solve this problem using the cable I have and the internet. I'm really desperate. Any help would be so very much appreciated. Thank you.
I have a question. Do you store your photos and videos on a memory card or were you using the built in tiny memory of the phone???
Obviously if using a memory card for storage then you could just take it out and throw it in a card reader to take stuff off to your pc that way.
Either that or a alternative would be to get a bluetooth adaptor for your pc and Bluetooth the files that way. It is not the fastest but unless it's locked content (DRM or locked to the phone) then this phone works very well over bluetooth. I have used bluetooth to put ringtones, other music and also photos on and off my od one of these many times before.
More along the lines of my first suggestion would to buy a cheap memory card insert it and then copy the files on to it that you want then take the card out as in the first option.
Lastly I am pretty sure this phone only uses a mini usb port so any mini usb cable should do the trick (I think you may need to set the phone to recognise as a storage device somewhere in the options/settings) then it would just appear as any old portable storage device.
Hope i've helped. If not have you thought about asking whoever gave you the phone if they had any cables etc. I know when i got mine it was when they first came out and they were $599 each but it was buy one get one free. So there is always a chance whoever gave you the phone may have software or cables that can help.
Thank you so much for your reply. I will try out your suggestions and get back to you. Thanks again, I appreciate the time you took to offer solutions!
I don't have a memory card so the photo's and videos are all on my phone. There are heaps through, like 100 videos and 200 + photos.
With that many videos i would probably think you do have a memory card (maybe you just never thought you did since you didn't buy it) as pretty sure the phone only has 32 meg internal memory. So unless you have very small clips then you do have a memory card.
Take your batter out and have a look i think from memory it's located on the left hand side. The memory card location is not like most newer phones it's hidden under the battery not far from the sim.
