This is probbably an old topic (and possibly in the wrong forume too) but i've been searching and can't find the answer(s) to my questions

I have no problems sending AT commands to com ports. I've built a web application using JAVA and an iTegno GPRS modem to send sms using AT commands and seems to be working flawlessly (most of the time).

Now I'm trying to send SMS through GPRS but don't know the commands needed to send to the modem. Can anybody send me a "Hello World" type of AT commands for this? If it's even possible.

Lastly, can I use a regular Nokia 6800 hooked up via DKU-5 or my iTegno GPRS modem for this lil' project of mine? If not, can you suggest phones or modems I can use instead?

thanks in advance!

great community, hope to be able contribute in the future.

-Jay

Make sure your operator allows SMS to be sent via GPRS first. I would be amazed if they allowed this

The iTegno GPRS modem (here in New Zealand Dynalink USB GPRS Modem) has software to send/receive SMS, operating as a mobile phone would.

If their own software can do this, then certainly an API is available. If it's available as AT commands, well, I recommend contacting iTegno directly and asking them.

What do you mean by sending SMS via GPRS?

I've got the commands here for sending an SMS message using AT commands if that's what you need? But if you mean that you want to do a GPRS attach and send the messages, then I can't help 8-).

Let me know either way.

I read somewhere you can send SMS through GRPS by turning on the following on a Nokia phone:

Nokia 6610
Messages > Message Settings > Text Messages > Sending Profile > Use GPRS

I was wondering if there's an AT command to simulate this sending method. So far I've been told by people that network providers will not allow this. I called my local telco the customer care agent don't seem to know what I'm talking about. So I don't know if my service provider offers this.
