Hey just saw this ad/mailer for the Nokia X3-02 from Parallel Imported. It seems to be the first mass market (or just about the first full stop) legitimate quad 3G (HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100) handset. Review on GSM Arena suggests its more than the normal lazy specs report. Also confirmed here:

http://www.forum.nokia.com/Devices/Device_specifications/X3-02/

Have there been other real quad-3G handsets on the market yet and I have just missed them? In any case let's hope this is the beginning of seeing all handsets as quad-3G. Certainly this is reasonably trend setting in the lower end of the market (S40).

On another note the Parallel mailer suggests its a dual SIM handset but can't find any support for that anywhere.

The iPhone4 was the first quad band UMTS device. A large number of new Nokia's appearing on the market including the N8 are all quad band also.

First "mass market" 3G quadband?

I think they forgot to mention the iPhone 4. Or don't they consider the iPhone 4 "mass market" enough?

Yes forgot about the iPhone 4. Mass market was my term. Personally I don't consider the iPhone 4 mass market. Sure its popular but at the price its not going to be a phone for everyone. Quad 3G at this price point is significant progress.

Big difference in price though.  Nokia + $396,   iPhone???

From the Parallel imported site.

"Nokia X3-02 Bluel Mobile Phone

PLEASE NOTE: THIS PHONE IS NOT DUAL SIM AS STATED IN THE NEWSLETTER - IT IS COMPATIBLE ON BOTH VODAFONE and TELECOM ONLY. Touch and type with one hand | Instant access to your music"

With the number of iPhone handsets sold around the world I would say it is a "mass market" device, regardless of price...

If only all phones were quad band 2G and 3G, it'd make my life so much easier. Perhaps one day manufacturers will realise there is something of a market for them.

On another note i didn't actually realise the iPhone was quad band 3G, that's handy to know even if i'll never be buying one. If only HTC did the same with their handsets...

It's not the first quad band 3G handset as other have mentioned.

All Nokia New Symbian handsets (previously known as Symbian^3) are Penta band 3G, that's FIVE bands on the one handset. These include the N8, C6-01, C7 and E7
