I have a CDMA internet-enabled mobile phone and am wondering how/if IP addresses are managed for my phone when I connect. Can anyone explain it to me?

The range will depend on your mobile provider, but can be two ways:

  • these are assigned from a pool of public IP addresses or
  • these are assigned from a pool of NATed IP addresses

To be specific only the provider can tell.

Using the login mobile@jamamobile and pass telecom serves up dynamic assigned IP adresses in the 166.179.x.x range. This IP range is able to be remotely pinged. Telecom recycle the IP address after 4 hours of no data activity.
