Greetings lads and ladesses....I am in the process of shopping for a new mobile phone. I have basically decided on the Sony Erickson w705 or the w995 purely for their music and wifi capabilities. My question is this. Can you upload a picture that has been taken with a mobile phone onto a web site? I'm sure this topic has been covered but I couldn't find any mention of it when I searched. Thanks in advance guys....Mal

Can you be a bit more specific please? What sort of website?

Hi....the website is not to much different from this one. It involves motorcycling and the idea is you have to find the location in a photograph  posted by another user and take a photo of your bike at the same place and post it in the forum. The reason I want to do it from my new phone is that sometimes the locations are quite far from home and by the time I get back and upload the pics via my computer another member may have beaten me to it Cry Is that enough information?? Cheers...Mal

Ah...right. It also depends if the forum has mobile pages or, even fancier, a mobile app. Standard website's desktop browser pages can be painful to use on a mobile phone. Having said that it's not impossible though. I have uploaded pics to forums with my HTC Desire Android phone before - haven't tried from any other phones though. Perhaps others can recommend some other phones.

Are these locations fairly close to main centres? You may have coverage to consider to in that case.

TAG O RAMA!!! I do the same, but find it easier to take my netbook and t-stick and upload on location.

I can't help you with those particular phones, but I can say I have successfully uploaded to a phpbb3 forum from a couple of different android devices.

+1 on the netbook thing! Well, I have a Macbook Pro tethered to my HTC Desire WiFi hotspot - works a treat and nowhere near as frustrating as posting from a smartphone!

Netbook is a cut-down version of notebook/laptop. They are usually quite small (10" - 13"), conservatively powered, and designed to access the Internet for browsing, checking emails, etc. Basically simple tasks that don't require lots of computing power.

BTW, there are no such things as "dumb questions". However, in case there are further basic questions burbling away in the background just remember, Google is your friend! Laughing A simple search term in Google can bring up all kinds of useful info.

Here's one for example...

If you are going to do it on a regular bases then you might want to look at a smartphone, or if you are thinking about a netbook or tablet option then why not combine it and look at either the Dell Streak 5" Smartphone/ Tablet or the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7" Tablet/ Phone. Both run Android.

I currently have the Dell Streak and love it I blog and surf the net on it and even answer forums, the other day I uploaded pics to imageshake.com so that I could post the photo's in a forum. Also another big thing is that it is a phone, and yes you can even use like a standard phone, yes a VERY large phone.

It really going to get down to how you want to spend and how much stuff you want to take with you, if it was me I would go with the Streak, here is a video of a guy who integrated a Dell Streak to his Harley Davidson Road King Classic (w/ hard bags).

Cheers
