Hi there - I'm hoping someone can tell me how to set up GPRS access for Virgin Mobile Australia, eg,

- default APN
- IP address (if needed)
- number to dial (*99#)?
- any init string (z:,+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet")?

Many thanks for your help! Cris

To move internet traffic no IP address should be needed

What type of mobile?

Also you only need a init string if using a second device, which you didn't say you intend to use. Perhaps you care to expand the question?

If you are trying to connect a second device through your mobile phone, the string is optional and you should not need it. The default number is *99#, but it depends on your mobile configuration, in which case it can vary from *99***1# changing the 1 depending on what APN configuration you want to use.

Also the init string would be Z;+CGDCONT=1,,"[APN]". Note after the Z is ";" not ":,". And [APN] should be replaced with the proper APN name.

Hi John and Mauritzio - Thanks for the quick replies! Sorry I didn't include more detailed info - posting late at night...

The WM2003SE set-up is a Dell Axim x50v.

The phone is a Motorola V3 (not V3i) from Virgin Australia. Virgin's default WAP settings appear locked and point only to Virgin's 'Vibe' portal.

I'm syncing using the V3's Samba Gateway - bluetooth dial-up modem.

Secondary devices are bluetooth connections to a desktop running WinXPSE, Blueant in-car setup. Plus a bluetooth audio headset, soon.

Separately, I did read here and there on the forums that Virgin Mobile don't provide GPRS access, only MMS - will check that out with them today.

Cheers, Cris
