I was going to say that. If the local prices weren't so inflated...

Prices and lack of timely software updates on the operator bastardized versions is a good reason.

Still get nagged about new updates for my 2730's - only to be told "not for you! contact your telco" basically once the download is run.

At least with android there is the possibility of rooting it and putting something less obsolete on when the useless telco's let you down with their butchered versions.

Oh, and we royally get ripped off for phones in NZ too, doesnt hurt to bypass the markups.

When calculating if importing phones yourself to sell is going to be worthwhile, don't forget to factor in:

- Shipping
- Administrative costs (ie: the opportunity cost of your time!)
- Import duty
- Cost of meeting your legal requirements to replace/repair/refund units as per the CGA

Is it still worthwhile?

Because the 'options' that you and Telecom offer are a) limited and b)overpriced

Try http://www.discoverytrd.com/

I've used them before and they were under market value even after shipping. I stopped using them on my site as I couldn't maintain a store aswell as keep up with the Android news etc. The contact there is Tommy. When I was dealing with him, he was setting up an NZ bank account to take payments for orders.

Hope that helps. Good luck!

Just had a look, pretty good prices. I think there's just not much margin anywhere at the moment although I'd imagine he would do Better price if you bought a pile
