This is an interesting article on how much money isn't made by many app developers.  While iPhone is referred to in the link the apps discussed related to any OS.

Kind of interesting. Most of the article focuses on the economics of 'advertising supported' games. The older article he links to has more stats about paid applications.

His main activity seems to be consulting to corporations who want to jump on the mobile bandwagon and avoid the common pitfalls.
