PC to PPC (wm5/JasJar) SMS account ...

How does one do this with either email or other means with Vodafone NZ.

When I send an email to my allocated PPC email account (yahoo). The PPC is set scan to emails every 10 min (I dont wish to decrease this email scan as it soaks up to much resource on the PPC, battery CPU etc).
Via email account settings in WM5.

So can I send and email from MS Outlook on my desktop PC that will hit my PPC SMS account immediately (thus removing the possible 10 min email scan delay mentioned above.) If so how do you do this ? Whats the correct address format ?

If my voda mobile NZ number is 021-999-999, whats the SMS address ??? I tried these fromats from my MS outlook on my pc and they all failed

+64.........@vodafone.net.nz

6421......@vodafone.net.nz

[Moderator edit (MF): removed full phone numbers]

You have to register with Vodafone to have access to the e-mail to SMS gateway. The address will be 64.....@sms.vodafone.net.nz.

And, yes you will pay $.20 for each message anyone sends you, so it is not a good idea to make it public that you have this service. Can you imagine if spammers start sending their e-mails directly to your address? There's no way to filter incoming SMS, and you will have to pay for them...

..."There's no way to filter incoming SMS"...

You can block incoming messages to your PPC,

http://www.winmobileapps.com/device/pocketpc/csb/csb.aspx

But I guess you pay for them first...

Thanks for help.

Mine does work, I guess I am not registered !

i found this txtEmail..Its not that cheap $199 setup and .35 per email !

Or is this the super dooper service ????

TXTmail

TXTmail integrates your email program with the Vodafone mobile network. It lets you send TXTs from your PC's email system, and receive responses in your inbox. That's one powerful business tool.
If TXT plays a big part in your business, you should upgrade to the ultimate TXT tool: TXTmail.

TXTmail integrates your Microsoft Outlook email system with the Vodafone network. Instead of using your mobile to enter TXTs, you simply type the message on your PC, and add the recipients' mobile numbers eg. 021 345 678, followed by @txtmail.co.nz and hit send. The recipients of your TXTs can reply using their mobile, and their TXT replies arrive in your email inbox, so it's easy to reply, and to keep their response indefinitely.

TXTmail can send messages to any mobile network, including many international networks. (Check to see which countries can receive TXTs from Vodafone NZ).

Why use TXTmail?

TXTmail lets you leverage the power of TXT as a business tool.
You can:

Deliver information to your out of office staff, your customers or your suppliers immediately..
Send urgent information to many people at once.
Make TXT part of your everyday business processes, to help streamline customer service and staff communications.

These are all perfect applications for TXTmail - but remember Vodafone NZ does not tolerate "TXT Spamming".

What do I need to use TXTmail?

To use TXTmail, you'll need:

A Vodafone account.
Email software on your Windows-based PC.
A registered email domain name that you own (your email address will look like "yourname@yourcompany.co.nz").

Note, TXTmail doesn't work with public mail servers like Hotmail, or generic ISP email addresses such as clear.net or paradise.net.

What does it cost?

At just 17c plus GST per message, TXTmail costs far less than landline to mobile calls - and because
you can contact lots of people at once, it also takes you far less time.

Set up fee$199
Monthly access$35
0 - 5000 Messages$0.17 per message
5001 + Messages$0.15 per message

How do I set it up?

Talk to your Vodafone Account Manager, your nearest Vodafone store, or contact us.

People who registered on the old Vodafone webmail about six years ago (around 2000) should have this service already in place. Otherwise you have to register.

Digs, read it again - it's $.17 + GST, not $.35 per message. They do charge a $35/month access though.

I will send you a PM with instructions. Keep an eye for it.

After doing more research....

I have learnt this ....

From : http://www.notepager.net/tap-phone-numbers.htm

TAP Paging Terminal Phone Numbers

When sending text messages to pagers and cell phone, the terminal phone number is required we have listed the most commonly used numbers along with the settings. Please let us know of any additional

How Text Messaging Works - Messages are sent via software to the paging terminal. The software communicates with the paging terminal in a fashion that the paging terminal understands, the terminal then broadcasts the message to the appropriate paging device. You will need the phone number of the paging terminal (see the above directory) and the id number of the pager or cell phone.

I can write a program from my PC to send an SMS message to my mobile in Visual Studio net.

All I need is the Vodafone NZ Tap paging number ( the same as the UK vodafone listing here : http://www.notepager.net/tap-phone-numbers-u.htm

Vodafone Mobile UK44 07785 4999938,n,1TAP
Any Ideas what it is ???
