I am trying to connect my Dell Inspiron E1505 to the internet using the modem on my Sony-Ericsson Walkman W810i phone. The bluetooth connection is working fine. It just doesn't dial the number using the dial-up networking tool. Does anyone have any advice or have a solution to this very frustrating issue.

In some countries you can't use the phone to dial any number, but only connect to the Internet through the provider's own network - GPRS or 3G. It means you can't dial a normal ISP through a circuit switched data connection (CSD).

If this is the case you have to use the data network connection (in general number is *99# or similar).
