Sorry guys I know this isnt anything to do with technicalities of mobiles or whatever you do here :P But hopefully someone can help..

Bought the nokia 2280, on boost mobile network, 027 number

What the hell is the difference between boost and telecom?
I bought a Telecom recharge card and it worked, even tho its meant to take 'boost recharge cards'

Do I get the $10 a month text deal for example...

Thx, from a total noob

The boost mobile prepay runs on the same platform as the other ones, but rate charges are different. The $10 SMS CAP is not available for this series of mobile, but things may change - keep an eye on this.

I was very surprised that the $10 text deal was not introduced on Boost. After all, Boost was intended to capture the youth market and the $10 text would have been an ideal way to acheive this.

I think text messaging on Boost is charged such that each message sent to an 027 phone at off peak hours is 1c, while all other messages are charged at 15c.

Alasta, mind you that Boost is not a Telecom New Zealand brand. Boost mobile is an American franchise with resellers in New Zealand and Australia. Actually the original owner and creator just got out of the company, since a big corporation in the USA bought it a few months ago and changed the approach too much to his liking.

Anyway, Telecom can't change or introduce much on this product. But keep an eye on this.

According to this mornings paper, ( Dominion C14 Feb 4th) T/Com have scrapped the 1c text option for boost,

now all texts will cost 20c anytime with a 1 dollar cap per day,

sounds like a increase in costs for most people.-

guess they are trying to push people onto 027 $10 txt/month,

Sounds like Telecom's dumb marketing people are up to their usual behaviour, sell Boost to the young market then bring out another product that's more suited ($10 cap on Telecom). Reminds me of when they spent 3 months promoting their prepay prices as being 99c per min vs Voda's 1.29 then they went and matched it. They then spend months promoting their 200min offpeak plan at $24.95 vs Voda's $29.95 and then put their prices up to match. There marketing is sooo illogical!

boost is a waste of money if you txt as much as i do, all you have to do is wait 3 months and you can get it taken off boost, you just call telecom and they change it, you have to change your number though...
