Hey. Am working to rebuild a couple of Tivo's (thanks @spong!). One I am reasonably sure has a hardware issue, the other was hard drive.

Am working through a blank install/guided setup. When I get  to the end of Preparing/Connecting/Getting Info/Disconnecting/Loading Info (at 99%) it complains about an Error S02. Now it's already phoned home for the initial download, etc., so it's not a simple network connectivity issue like many of the guides suggest.

Reading through old messages it sounds like there has been 'guide issues' in the past that might be related. Earlier on today I had a complete success which was great - unfortunately, that hard drive (circa 2021!) crapped out this arvo, so that's a no go now too.

I waited until the current problem (12 hour out) had been resolved, and tried again but unfortunately the same result. Get's through the first phases, then I do an antenna scan and pickup the channels, then it does a guide update and fails right at the end with error S02. I've tried with WiFi adapter as well as ethernet but both _seem_ to behave the same way...

Any suggestions for what to try next?

I'm assuming the PROM chip has already been replaced and you're using a HDD with an already patched image installed? I'd recommend you install the already patched image I prepared some years ago and have used hundreds of times with total success, written to the drive with the correct software. I'll PM you with details.

Hey mate. Yeah, both tivos been prommed. Images are patched and updated (from you) and after a few bumpsnand locating some windows hardware, I can write the images to the HD's.

I just dont understand why it worked on one HD and now doesn't. Am interested to see if anyone else can do a guided setup at the moment (i.e. Whether my guided setup issues are data related from recent problems, or are specific to my systems and/or process I'm undertaking)...

The S02 error will most likely be happening to everyone I believe, due to Stephen (our EPG) guru not being able to encrypt the EPG data prior to being uploaded to the OzTivo server. The data there now will likely be incomplete. He was using a Tivo box I'd supplied him to do this but it's also failed. Bad timing!  I'm sending him another one tomorrow Thursday 14/05/26. Sadly your EPGs will likely be a mess until he receives it, but there's not a lot we can do until then.

Due to my TiVo having died, I can not actually test this, but from my understanding of how Guided Setup works, it will fail when there is no good EPG data available to be downloaded, as is the case at the moment.  So I presume that the S02 error is its way of saying that.  Any TiVo that does a Guided Setup at the moment will see the same problem, so it is not likely to be a problem with your TiVo, just that it is downloading EPG files that do not contain any valid data.

So everyone, please do not try a Guided Setup until the server has valid EPG data.  If you do, you will lose any existing valid EPG data that you may have for the next few days.

If the courier manages to get the new TiVo to me overnight (which they often do), then I will get it on Friday and should get things working again in time for the Saturday morning EPG processing run.  The daily EPG run typically finishes uploading the new EPG files between 10:19 and 10:30, so all going well I would suggest trying to download the new EPG data after 10:45 on Saturday.  There is a menu somewhere to get the TiVo to manually start an EPG download, but since my TiVo is dead I can not tell you exactly where it is.  If you can not download the EPG data then, please do not try a Guided Setup until you have checked the forum and know that there is valid EPG data.
