TENKAN: No the update is not just for us,it works best with caspa as it allows you to use a keyboard,me I'd like to see more commitment to caspa or even nexflix and internet apps.

I'd like to see a TIVO ipad/android app for scheduling and heck why not streaming of recorded content to the mobile device.

Plus the HD menu upgrade as mentioned above.

And yeah, a built in youtube app would be cool too.

I guess we'd need someone in NZ to actually own it as such.  Is Hybrid here in NZ or are they run out of Australia?

I'm not interested in Caspa at all personally as I prefer to get higher video/audio quality bluray discs from the local video store.  Call me old school in that regard.  I'd ditch Caspa development (and all the associated effort to get suppliers on side etc) and look to align with a native TVNZ/TV3 On-Demand app like the PS3 has/had (before the quality went bad and there's still no nice way to view HD youtube stuff on the PS3 either....)

DanHybrid: We're here to support EPG for years to come.

Great to hear Dan!  Are there any plans to find an alternative retailer to stock it?  I'm sure there is a market for them here in NZ with the digital switchover looming - especially with the new Igloo platform being a complete flop!

BraaiGuy: Tivo is not supported in South Africa, but they seem to be using it with their own guide generators. I'm sure if things went pear shaped in NZ we have enough geeks here on geekzone to setup something simular.

There is a similar service here too.

I would not do it. I would wait for an official anouncement from Tivo NZ. Once its officially released your Tivo will do the update anyway

The AU/NZ Series 3 and US Series 3 are not compatible.
Attempting to install US firmware on your box will at best fail to work, and worst Brick your box.

There is no firmware updated currently scheduled for AU/NZ at this time.

Dan

If that happens soon, then maybe one of our "Geeks" here on Geekzone may be able to extract the firmware from the new TiVo? But then again, it must be supported.. (Or maybe a "hack-a-round"!)

I started the above thread.

I still have issues and I often record the same program on 2 TiVo's (sad!). I think I may have to also record the same program from Sky as well.

Today, on one TiVo I had a major pixelation problem. So I thought, no problem, I will transfer the program from the other TiVo. The program when transferred had a picture, but no sound!

To be honest, if HyrbidTV struck up a distribution deal with a few retailers and released a modified TiVo Premiere in Australia and NZ, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

I'd love to get my hands on a new TiVo, but without resorting to TradeMe or similar, there's no chance.
