Unfortunately with the current level of support for TiVo I would not be surprised it we don't get it at all.
I love my TiVo, and fear that after a reasonable time to avoid legal action, TiVo support and EPG data will just disappear into thin air. Boo.

Cheers,
Joseph

Unfortunately I fear you are absolutely correct.  It is what it is for maybe 24 months and then see-ya-later.

I can't find any info on a firmware release for NZ

But TiVO is doing so well in both the state's and australia, why would they just dump us?

I think Tivo NZ would find themselves in a world of trouble as on one of the screen the account status says some along the line of lifetime product service, by failing to provide the epg it would basically make the tivo a brick.

I don't share the fears (not yet at least), but how timely that this discussion appeared at the same time as Sony DVR with lifetime listings loses functionality because one of the companies is no longer issuing the listings...

If they do stop the online EPG in the future, they should release one last firmware update which gets the EPG via the Freeview stream instead, like normal Freeview boxes.

I think the over the air epg is only 7days and does not contain enough information for the tivo guide

with it being owned (in part) by TVNZ, then, theoretically, the only way the updates should stop is if TVNZ itself goes bust, which I can't see hapening what with being an SOE.

Lets just hope it all keeps chugging on, but you can't deny the dependency on an external party to essentially make these devices function properly. (Can you even set manual record on/off times in the TIVO?)

Yes, you can. It's all done from the Tivo Central >> Find Programs >> Record by manual times.

We're here to support EPG for years to come.

Tivo is not supported in South Africa, but they seem to be using it with their own guide generators. I'm sure if things went pear shaped in NZ we have enough geeks here on geekzone to setup something simular.

What's in the new update?  Is it relative to NZ content?

I'd like to see an HD menu personally.  That sounds vein but the caspa one looks so much better, (though is slower as it's internet content based).

No the update is not just for us,it works best with caspa as it allows you to use a keyboard,me I'd like to see more commitment to caspa or even nexflix and internet apps.
