Also got one of these letters. Two TiVo's in our house, both purchased through telecom on our home account. I assume the free data will only last a week as the letter says somethign along those lines.

They fixed that "issue" of unlimited data with ours ages ago, was rather disappointed but we had a good run.

My meter hasn't worked for close on 6 months, and got the letter about 5 months ago. I hope they will send anohter letter once it has been fixed otherwise I could go over my cap.

I don't think the letter hinted that metering would turn off for one week only.

I maybe wrong, but I interpreted the message that from the week starting 25th March, metering will stop until further notice.

This is my understanding as well.  Long may it continue :-)

I got the letter today also, and that is my understanding of it - until they can fix the metering issue, all these accounts (with a TiVo on them) are unmetered. w00t.

I wonder if it has anything to do with their imminent announcement of UFB plans? I heard they have to change how data is metered with these connections (and with VDSL, which I hope is coming from Telecom soon also).

Will being moved from FPID to BBA make any difference to performance?

I just got the letter today, as long as speed remains same I'll be happy.

On a 150 gig plan, don't normally get anywhere near it, so it's like unlimited to me even at 150.

30 gig plan would save about $25 a month, but don't know how long unlimited will last for.

There should be no difference in performance, positive or negative.

The unmetering is "until further notice" - that holds for this latest batch of notifications plus the customers who received letters around July 2012.

Please don't go crazy until you have seen that your usage meter is not displaying your usage. As stated above, there may be some lag between this letter and your move to BBA - it's a complicated process with many qualifying factors, any one of which can spit you out from selection, so it can take a wee while before you're actually selected for migration to BBA.

Nothing to do with UFB or VDSL metering.

This process is to change these FIPD+TiVo customers to BBA customers so they are capable of potentially being able to buy VDSL (or fibre) when it's eventually launched. You can't get fibre or VDSL as an FIPD customer.

Still waiting...mine was supposed to change on the 25th March. Rang Telecom and after 45 minutes on the phone they can't find anyone who knows anything about this. They kept insisting I was changing to UFB (I wish!!!)

Coincidentally notice a marked reduction in BB speed in the last 2 days. Not sure if related or not.

Anyone else changed or is everyone delayed?

I think there may have been a disconnect in the way the letter has been interpreted by some and the way it was intended to be interpreted.

Perhaps the way it should have read was "... sometime after the 25th of March ..."

We are looking at ways of achieving an effective "unmetering" for this group of customers as quickly as possible to mitigate any potential disappointment (Smile) that may have been caused by any misunderstanding of the letter.

Please bear with us....

(I'm not an official ORT member - but I am working in this area for Telecom)

Unlikely that this is anything other than coincidence...

Thanks Johcar, yes the letter was pretty specific from memory that the change was going to be ON the 25th. A small boo boo but you may have other customers asking the same thing. Shame the CSR's don't seem to have been given a heads up that they may be getting calls.

Yeah - with the 20/20 of hindsight, I can understand how "from the week commencing 25 March 2013, your broadband usage meter will read '0'" could easily be interpreted as a specific date/action.

It wasn't me who worded the letter Innocent, but I was one of the several who proof-read it - probably too quickly and without thinking about it too much. Apologies...

I didn't receive a letter but noticed the meter stay on 0mb so I called telecom just last week. I also notice that my ip changed to a static, which telecom says its not. Did anyone else noticed a 'static' ip during Tivo's maintenance?

The IP address is dynamic, but it doesn't change frequently.

Nothing related to the TiVo maintenance.

Sadly my usage meter is still ticking over as usual. Hope it stops working soon :-)
