That is true. Although I don't know how much data the Tivo apps and games it use though, as there is no mention of that. They seem to load it all on the fly and takes a while to load. So I suspect they would use quite a bit of data each time they load up.

Virtually nothing.

As mentioned above Tivo unmetered only existed for CASPA content, which hasn't existed for many years now. I'm really surprised Spark actually kept the zero rating for as long as they did - because there wasn't actually anything to not charge,

I'm in the same boat where I get a "free" Static IP on the 150GB VDSL plan, but will have to pay $15 a month for this if I move to the unlimited plan from 1st July.

I can't see the logic in Spark charging this extra $15 month on their unlimited plan, it's not like I'm hosting a public server, just 4x surveillance cameras. If anyone from Spark could arrange a "favour" for "Loyal Spark Geekzoners", it would be much appreciated. Not looking forward to a price increase for effectively the same service we've had for the last couple of years.

I'm on adsl and so far have had no letter. Don't think I'm a big user as only watch 4 to 5 hours netflix a week, 2 to 3 hours youtube, other then that nothing else I do is data intensive.

In your case you maybe better to shop around, as some ISPs will give you an IP for just a one off charge. I am doing a table comapring ISPs, and their pricing are quite complex when you drill down to things. Only Orcon have all the information I need on one simple page, the other ISPs either omit info, or you have to go into their FAQs to find it. Even the line / wiring maintenance fee with some varies a lot percentage wise.
I don't know if spark have a retention team, but the deal they are offer new cusomters signing up to a new 12 month contract is pretty good, free modem and $110 credit, which basically reduces the bill by $9 per month, which would cover some of the IP price.

As it turns out, I'm only looking at a $5 per month increase. We're currently charged $109 for our 150GB plan, and this will go down to $99 for Unlimited. So add $15 onto that for a static DNS, and the increase is only five bucks. I can live with that :-)

have you considered us yet as an option?

We've kept things pretty simple when it comes to plans.
Literally have 1 x VDSL plan ($89, unlimited data, no term contract) with a $49 connection fee and $45 one-off charge for static IP.
We don't do any other charges of any kind.

all the detail is right there on the homepage before you even check address or anything like that.

iirc Spark have a retention team, you can probably talk to a rep here and have them call you with an offer. Last time around it was basically the same deal new members got(month free+modem upgrade if req) for a 12 month contract.

I think I would be happy with that offer myself, but switching to UFB, so would need a new modem anyway. A bit of a pity they didn't really offer anything int he letter they sent.

Nope. I'm on ADSL and I got the letter.

Letter just came this afternoon, I get the mail slower then everyone else, and I'm in the city.

Just says I seem to be using more then 40 GB, but doesn't tell me how much more?

I probably change to unlimited, but thinking of going naked to knock $10 off, then pay 2degrees $12 for unlimited mobile landline calling, that gives me the whole country instead of just local calls for an extra $2, plus not being tied to being at home to make calls. Most people are calling my mobile these days not landline.

Looked at changing isp's but some look like they're strugging with prime time netflix, ( to date having no probs with spark), could save $10 a month with snap (150 gig plan and eat nights would suit), but they charge for joining, and that fritzbox looks expensive, so would rather buy my own modem router, not interested in two year contract. Plus I need to know I can block public DNS in the router as well.

Maybe once 2degrees put something out in their own name, they'll make joining them easier.

Hmm - No letter for me yet. As per others the trick for me is I have absolutely no idea how much data I actually use. Has been a great little side bonus while it lasted though - thanks Spark!
