^^ This!

I'm not even sure how the connection was made seeing how my post reflects the legality issues pertaining to downloading television shows.  It also did have a question around legal sources for purchasing / downloading.

Ouch!  My e-cred is bruised.

Im quite sure sky’s reason for not giving tiVo Pime EPG made business sense.

I agree that sky would have good reasons.  But Maori tv on the other hand gets our tax dollars and ignores us for over a year....

Yeah whoops quoted the wrong one, was supposed to be under graemeh's post

I realise his post was in jest, but just in case it opens a flood gate to users who don't realise that sharing links like that are against the fugs, and we'd like to keep everyone around for as long as possible Smile

Yes you're right I was joking.

You can legally download at the end of the 50th year after the year it was broadcast! (I really must stop reading the copyright act) Frown

Now I wonder if it is illegal to watch Dr Who on the BBC's "on demand" service?  I know you'd be breaking their terms and conditions but are you actually breaking any NZ laws?

It looks like primes EPG maybe added in 2012 according to the sky website

Will Prime's listings be available on TiVo's EPG?

Will Prime's listings be available on TiVo's EPG?

Prime's listings are not available on TiVo's EPG (electronic programming guide) as at this time TiVo does not measure ratings data. This information is important for a free-to-air broadcaster as the ratings are needed to put a value on PRIME's TV commercials.

We expect that this feature could be available in 2012 when we will review this decision at that time.

Not sure how they do ratings. Mines on all the time, would that give a rating for what ever channel it's on. I only watch a couple hours a week.

Just i've had it record without sound when in standby, since left it out of standby everything recorded ok, so not sure how rating info from it would help sky, as it would be unreliable. Just because tuned to channel doesn't mean it's being watched. Just a wimpy excuse not to provide epg, what a crock.

I don't watch any maori tv, but if guide info was on tivo might be different as i just don't know what's on, lol. Too many things on prime to miss as i like my sci-fi and prime seems to be leader in that area.

I think the Tivo programming would be smart enough to work out if you were there or not.  I don't think there is any program I've watched in months without doing something with the remote during the program.  If you use the remote the Tivo can tell you are there :)

It's a bit of a lame excuse as the provide a EPG via the freeviw platform, and as far as I know there is no way for most  recevers to log what channel is watched and report back the data.

if they were really concerned about their advertisers they would be begging Tivo to take the EPG in order to boost the viewiers.

Seeing how much Prime TV has improved over the years and particularly with picking up Dr Who and showing Top Gear I'd be viewing their channel if they had the EPG.

Please SKY!

The TiVo is really a great device. It's only letdown really is the EPG data (which I wish was more complete), if Sky + Maori TV release their EPG data to TiVo wouldn't it make all TiVo owners watch these channels more?

I know for a fact for me - I see Prime's "Help us get this EPG, contact Prime" and am like "Stuff it, nothing is on" when in reality most of the time I am missing shows like Topgear, Mythbusters or Dr Who.

I guess either Sky is scared of opening the possibility of "if TiVo had all it's EPG data, this will make it the best Freeview box" - it's user friendly (my parents love it), does it's job, and has great features.

Ah well, it will happen eventually - I and possibly others will just more or less avoid those channels or use TeeVoid for Android for now.

Great news for Maori TV though - will this wake Prime up maybe?
