Mine stops ticking over.

Speed test to snap and another one called hosting 24, pings gone up to 73, was 48 before.

Speed dropped from 12 megs a second down to 8 megs a second.

Have tested over few days same result.

Though speed test to culverden ping 23 ms, speed 12 megs a second, strange as it's futher away then snap in christchurch.

Speed test to Sydney slightly faster then christchurch to christchurch, 10 Mbs and about same ping.

Got a similar letter and my usage is unmetered at the moment
I got the Tivo from telecom ( free for signing up for 12 months)

I to got the Letter but as yet my meter is still counting data. I used the Online chat about a week ago and they could not see why i would have got the letter (yes i got a Tivo From Telecom).

As for VDSL on Telecom i have heard Rumors (just word on the street) that come the first of May they are going to be offering it. This is just what i have heard so take it with a grain of salt. but if they do i will be jumping ship to VDSL as soon as i can get it so long as the price is not to high.

I had this letter months ago and while they said it would be for a short period it has remained unmetered.

Unfortunately the performance has not been great and I'm moving to another ISP. I'm also taking the opportunity to move to VDSL at the same time.

My letter said that the usage will read 0 from 25 March, but only started to read 0 after a few days later than the date specified

I called Telecom and the answer was that it will start reading 0 from my next broadband billing cycle but that was wrong.

Cant say that I can notice a drop in speed ( using speedtest.net)

Are you sure you have a Master Filter and there isn't problems with your internal wiring. As most often it's that as Telecom consistently scores well for broadband performance 24/7

Thanks for the suggestion Paul but unfortunately that is not it. I am sure as I installed the filter myself when I moved my service to Telecom. It is a VDSL2 filter. The internal wiring between the filter and the ETP is about 2m of external rated Cat 5E cable.

The move to the other provider's ADSL service was completed last Thursday night. I am using the same modem as before and I have already noticed that the performance is much more consistent than it was with Telecom. It is also faster. I can now watch Youtube videos without stalling or buffering. I haven't tried any of the NZ TV on demand services yet.

Telecom's service was fast when it was fast but had many periods where it was just running slow.

I hadn't checked since I got the letter, but seeing this thread pop up I went and checked - my usage meter is still ticking over as per normal. I have a TiVo and got the letter, but am still being metered (not that it really matters, I don't normally hit my 50Gigs).

I did notice a slow down shortly after getting the letter, but tested speed yesterday and it was back up. I did notice noise on my phone line on a phone call yesterday too. Might be time for another call to faults (will be the fourth one in 2 years, more than I ever have before)
