myopinion: It would be in Sky's interest to sell content to TiVo like sports matches for a single purchase. I am not paying $90 a month for a game or 2 of sport. However I would pay $6.99 for a game or 2 from TiVo.

myopinion: MySky HDi is an awesome piece of kit - I had it for a year before the TiVo. Its definately the better device in terms of ease of use (read myopinion). However paying $90 per month for watching a couple of Cricket matches a month doesn't stack up. On average MySky viewers watch 75% freeview! I'm glad your happy though.

myopinion: Hey ockel I did read this somewhere but sorry I cant remember where. That site is interesting. Looking at the latest quarter stats though its more like 1/3 sky and 2/3 freeview. Which one do you look at. Who is AGB? Sky quote them as the source.

tdgeek: Tivo is not one option, that is a subset of Freeview FTA TV.
So, you have free TV versus Pay TV
If you get Freeview, you can use a low cost reciever, or you can get a PVR, there are many PVR's, TIVO being one of them.

Maybe I should have said Caspa, rather than TiVo... Sky is the only serious player in the paid TV market. This is a monopoly. This is bad for consumers. Caspa is making a start by competing with Sky's pay-per-view business. Even if the Caspa service is a major success we still only have a two players in the paid TV market. This is a duopoly. This is also bad for consumers as we have seen in the mobile market.
We need more consumer choice in the paid TV market.
