c71931f:freitasm:timbosan:LennonNZ: Ask your "Mate" .. He is the one who told you this.. or maybe he doesn't work there now as he didn't take any notice of his NDA.
Thanks
Yeah, +1, tell you mate to be careful what he says if the information is still internal (which I guess it is)
Telecom is very good at finding who spilled the beans. A few people lost their jobs because of that. Tell your friend that's why we have a warning here.
This could be quite interesting then....

OK - just to clear a couple of things up . . .
My friend, having the position in the company that she does it is EXTREMELY unlikely that she would disclose info to me that is not intended for public consumption.
She is aware of my post here and is completely comfortable with it.
The offer of $360 for Tivo to Telecom landline customers was released 09/09/2010 and available for purchase from 10/09/2010.
Any Telecom landline customer purchasing a Tivo from Telecom from 10/09 should have paid no more than the $360 price tag.
Are they likely to be bringing out a new version soon, and are they just getting rid of old stock? Anyone got one of these and would recommend it?
Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

Dunno about the new version. I think they just have a stockpile to clearout as the 'exclusive' deal with TiVo has finished.
Got one at $499 (grrrrrr) but think its awesome! So nice having a reliable piece of kit that I don't have to keep updating the software every other week to fix "bugs".
joff_nz: I was loaned one for about 3 months, and would have had opportunity to have it for probably another 6 months at no cost, but decided to buy one myself. This was at $720 and while i'm a little gutted, such is the nature of technology and i think it's worth the $720, so $360 is just ridiculous! I have considered buying another for the bedroom but other things take priority.
Go into your local Telecom store and get one of the csr's to give you a demo, and just have a play around with it.
I'm sure there'r plent of other geekier options, but it is very easy and polished. and for that price, could you even build an htpc to do the same?
only let down for me is the hard drive size, as i didnt get a HNP key. Once the warranty is up i will look at a bigger hard drive or something.
tardtasticx: Parents wanted to know is it possible to go with the pay monthly option and pay off extra bits when they can to help pay it off faster? At that price its almost cheaper to get that since it saves us for buying a free view decoder later on and then a DVR when we decide we need one. When is that price meant to be showing up online? Just want to absolutely see for certain its that price before we rock up to the Telecom store. lol
robbyp:yeh I was going to ask that too. I assume it would because they dont say its an extra anymore do they? I'm supprised it doesnt have wifi built intardtasticx: Parents wanted to know is it possible to go with the pay monthly option and pay off extra bits when they can to help pay it off faster? I am pretty sure it would be that price, although does anyone know if it includes all the bits you get for the $499 price. eg the wireless adapter etc.

Same stock, so yes the Wireless adapter will be included. So Cynical guys! :)
tardtasticx - Telecom Stores should know about the promo; give them a call if you wish and ask if they have stock. You won't be able to pay extra off per month against the TiVo, however you may be able to pay the balance in full at anytime; at least you can with Mobile Deferred Payments with Telecom.
