Yes that is ridiculous isn't it. My hope it that it was more of an oversight, or lack of development resources at HybridTV modifying the TiVoHD for DVB-T. I am hoping (probably in vain) that it may one day be fixed in a software update.
I'm also hoping that when I get around to replacing the PROM and hacking the software that the addon EndPadPlus will go someway to solving this issue.

As above though, I think there are valid concerns about the future support/update path for this product. Even the $299 price suggests it's a bit of a fire sale of hardware stocks. I think an honest concern is the future of the EPG data given the unit can't currently receive the official broadcast EPG, much like Sony's PlayTV unit, which also couldn't do the overlap thing on two channels from the same mux....

YThat is the risk with any remotely hosted/cloud platform. However it has to last a reasonable period of time under the CGA, so if it did cease being supported say within the next 3-5 years (eg the tivo servers were taken offline, the retailer would likely have to provide a refund on it. I think it is pretty low risk of losing out.

You can only set manual recordings on those two channels.

Visited this issue many times in various topics.
No EPG data at all for Maori and Prime.
Both channels can be received, and recorded via simple timer programs.

However those divisions don't correspond to the actual times, which means if you press the record button when you are on prime, it will very likely stop recording mid way between the program. Therefore the only way to record is to go into tivos crappy menu system to manual shedule the time you want to record for.

That should be totally possible.??You use one tuner per mux, so you could record two channels, like TV1 and TV2 and watch Prime at the?same time because those channels are present on just two muxes.? Although I have a tivo, and it only allows you to watch the 2 channels that are being recorded, and you can't switch to a third live channel. You can only watch recorded programs, if you don't want to watch the two recorded programs.

Bummer. I have a Toppy (well, sort of, if you see my other thread) and it can record two channels and watch another live channel. It's not quite as clever as it should be either, though -- if you're recording two channels on the same mux, that still consumes both tuners and the third channel can only be one on the same mux. (ie. if you're recording TV1 and TV2 you can't watch TV3, but if you're recording TV1 and TV3 then you can watch TV2) And it doesn't do auto-clipping either.

Yes that is the other annoying thing. But you can download it off the tivo onto a PC to then rename it.

I know Telecom have been giving these to some people when they come door knocking and offering a deal, but when I rang them asking for a deal they said no, and I've have to wait until they maybe knock on my door - sometime, maybe never. Pretty sad when I pay them every month for a 80-100GB Total Home Broadband package.

In the meantime I bought my second TiVo on Trademe from one of these lucky people above. I'd rather like a third one, so if you know a shortcut to Freebie TiVo Heaven, please let us know. Who do you have to sleep with?

I share the sentiment - having been with them for 15+ years and paying around $150 a month on my bill (I still have the old Sky deal going through it, plus broadband, plus landline, plus tolls etc). Not impressed that they give great value to new customers while ignoring old loyal ones. I am in a Telstra zone, the cable goes past my front door, and I am almost irritated to the point of getting them to quote me for a switchover.....

Given the package you appear to be on, if you are in an area where Telstra operates, you could always tell Telecom that you are so annoyed that you will switch providers unless they treat you as well as new customers - who will on average be paying significantly less than you do per month. Be interesting to see what they say. I am getting close to doing that myself.

Many companies do this. I had the same issue with the dom post giving discounts and gifts to new subscribers. As a result I canceled by sub. Had a few offers from them since such as half price subs, but they lost my business.
