I see in the junk mail that arrived this morning that Bond and Bond and Noel Leemings are selling the TiVo at $299. Looks like at last they have broken the shackles of Telecom and we may see more being sold to the great unwashed out there..

Regards,

Old3eyes

Awesome! Thanks for letting us know, we don't get circulars (or watch TV ads).

That's great. Really sad that TiVo stuffed up marketing from the start, with Telecom not helping.

Until today people believe they can only have a TiVo if they have Telecom broadband service *sigh*.

Yes lets hope the B&B an NL sales team are better informed than Telecom staff, TiVo doesn't really have a DVD drive.

What company is driving this though and is there local support?

Last I heard (or this may be Zinwell) they had pulled out of NZ and were 'supporting' via Australia?

And according to a Telecom flyer we got in the mailbox the other day Telecom are giving them away for free if you switch to Telecom from another service provider.
That's probably a quality indicator just like their Thomson modem I've just had to replace with a decent brand due to its instabilty. Second one I've had die on me in 2 years.

TiVo IMO and IME is far superior product and far more stable platform than the raft of near no-name PVR's available today.  At $299 it's a steal and no other PVR will even come close.  At this price I may even grab TiVo #3 for the sons room.  Awesome Christmas prezzie I reckon.

Great to see. Although it isn't the best PVR, it is easy to use and I don't think there is anything that matches it at that price point. Hopefully it will mean that there will be some pressure to get prime and maori epg listings on it, which I think is affecting it's uptake.

That is an old warning. But they will need to change that, if they now have more resellers.

The sign in the Bond & Bond on Queen St advertises it as a Telecom Tivo.
