Does anybody have a link to the software where I can image the old 320GB HDD to a larger one?

You can use winmfs beta 9.3G to do it,

I also used a USB to sata connector to do it with my laptop today.

Pull the old drive out of the Tivo and plug it into the Usb adapter.

Copy the image to your computer using winmfs.

plug the new drive in to the Usb adapter.

Use winmfs beta 9.3G to restore the image on the new drive clicking the yes box at the end to resize the drive to full space,

Put the new drive back in Tivo and boot up.

The software you want is Winmfs Beta 9.3G, which doesn't seem to be easy to find.  I'll PM you with a link to it in my Dropbox. Be sure to run in enhanced Administrator mode if using Win7/8/10.

I have a 320GB HD that was pulled from my Tivo before I even powered it up many years ago.. I imaged it at the time and put a 1TB disk in its place. It has been sitting on my shelf as an insurance policy.. but obviously this is about to come to an end.

Does the community need an old virgin image in any way?

I'm in Hamilton and have three Tivos that need mod chips done on them (staggered, time wise). Is there anyone that can do this for some $$?

Are you sure? The developer's website used to say that v9.3g was for the US version only, and v9.3f was for Au/NZ TiVos. But if it worked for you that's good.

I have 9.3f if anyone needs it.

Winmfs 9.3G is the version I've always used, as has Dr Tivo (Darren) for NZ/Aust Tivo drives. Someone in our Tivo Mod Slack group used Vers 9.3F and there were some issues relating to expanding the image to fit a larger drive. There may also be a problem expanding to 2TB drives with this program, but I hope to check that out over the weekend as results are inconclusive at this stage.

Here's an old thread from 2011 on Oztivo that advises you should use 9.3G. Looks like you were part of that thread back then Skolink : http://forums.oztivo.net/showthread.php?2555-Tivo-320-NZ-upgrade-to-1-TB

Thanks to @Kookoo for donating their old TiVo box to me. The modded PROM chips have also arrived thanks to @spong, and the long weekend is also here! Great timing!

A quick question re the TiVo's HDMI port. When clicking on the Format button at the front of the TiVo, it never is able to select 1080p and hence why it's always blurry when plugged into my TV and monitors. Any ideas please?

@Kookoo

There is no 1080p ouput from the NZ/AUS  S3 TiVo. Highest quality is 1080i

Oh. I've just always noticed there was a 1080p symbol on the front of the panel, that just doesn't light up. Guess it's there for decoration!

For those wanting to know where things are with Tivo, post 31st October, here's a "State of Play" post in relation to where things are with the new Tivo software and an official update prior to 31st October etc.

Offical TiVo OS update coming soon. Likely won't affect anyone in any significant way either with the test version software mod or not.

A big shout out to everyone that is working on this at all levels. It is great to see it all coming together and I am massively impressed with how things are going. I thought I would post a quick heads up that Darren and myelf were told a few weeks ago that there will likely be an official update coming to TiVos just before close date. We didn't want to mention it then because we didn't want to stall the progress that was being made while people waited for this update. From what we can gather the update will be pretty useless to us and it primarily aimed at making a TiVo a little more independant from the mothership with things like

* extended "tickets" and lifetimes for TiVo features - Useless to us since the software guys have managed to fake tickets with ticketmaster.
* public timeserver - Again useless to us as we have control over this now I think with the OzTiVo mothership

The update is not aimed at doing anything negative and was pushed hard by Hybrid to TiVo USA in order to make the depatrure of the mothership a little bit less brutal. Again the guys here have pretty much smashed all the major problems so the lack of mothership means nothing to us.

This update is supposedly in testing now so will likely roll out in the coming week/s. I did give Matt a heads up a few weeks ago so if you modded your TiVo with the 0.5 installer your TiVo will not automatically update to the new software. It will download the update but you will need to manually trigger it so there is nothing to worry about.

I'm skeptical that the update will be of any use to us at all so whether or not people want to force the update is up to them. Whenever the update does land Matt will likely have to have a check on the installer for patching tivoapp to check which OS version the user is running and patch the right points accordingly. Running his installer on a `updated TiVo` likely wont be a problem either as he already has safety checks in place for tivoapp and it wont be patched if it is not the version expected. The rest of the mods will likely be unaffected. I'll try to track down the new tivoapp patch points whenever this update does land and they can be incorporated into the installer.

As for when the update will come??? We have no idea. We just know it is coming soonish. Darren and I just thought now was the time to let people know since everything has been pretty much sorted.

I've got my fingers crossed they prepatched and signed the kernel for us with this update but I doubt that will happen.

Again if people have run the 0.5 installer you don't need to do anything. This update will not affect you. This who haven't modded their TiVo's yet. I'd just let the update happen whenever it comes down. There is no point trying to block it. The software mod can be updated pretty easily. Even if there is something really negative with the update it would be trivial to just reimage the disk with a "pre modded" TiVo running the old OS and you will be back to normal.

Thanks for the info @Spong. Most appreciated.

Yes. But the installer and instructions are not ready for public distribution yet.
