My only issue is that everything I am downloading is increasing my broadband usage, I have called telecom and they are looking in to it...

It took mine probably about a week after I registered it for the before I noticed a change to my usage, that is looking at the on-line usage meter.

Just picked up my second unit this arvo for the family room, at that price there is no competition.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

If you have registered a credit card to your account it will prompt you on screen to topup when required.
The first time I used caspa it took ages before I could start watching but now it only takes a few minutes.

Yeh we only downloaded a free one. Guess thats why it didn't show up. How long do you have to view the movie? Can you view it as many times as you want withen a certain time frame? We usually get a movie out on saturday so if its gonna take this long for its first purchase I might pay for it at like noon or something and hopefully its ready by night to watch.

Generally you have a week to start watching it, but once you start watching it you can view as often as you like for the 2 days before it is deleted. there are exemptions to this but it tells you when you download.

I just purchased a tv show and it was ready to start viewing in less than 2 minutes.

I am not with telecom for my braodband, so wouldn't be downloading much. However I believe caspa now works with all ISPs, and not just telecom. I may switch to telecom, if I can get a good broadband deal, but they haven't offered me any deal that is better than the ISP I am currently with. It would be great if Caspa worked with TVNZ ondemand for free, so you could download prgrmas, lik you can on the playstation, and no datafees if you are with orcon.

If it wasn't for the lack of EPG on Prime etc, I'd be getting a second unit myself. Not a bad price at all.

and yes CASPA does work with all ISPs now but Telecom is the only one who doesn't charge you for the traffic.

Well its been more than 24 hours since we set up the TiVo, Registered it and got a CASPA Wallet or whatever. We still can't buy stuff and the free short movie we downloaded last night still won't download.

Have you restarted it at all. Mine started working only a couple hours after registration, after a restart.

God damn thats annoying. Said welcome, then about 5 minutes before we saw the tivo guy and the message saying a few minutes. after we got to that screen it was another 10 minutes or so. And now on the front it shows 1080 and 760something rather than just 1080. And we still can't download stuff.

took me around 30 hours before all that was setup for me for some reason, seemed excessive.

Yeh I'll give it till tomorrow then, bit late to call now. By then it would be more than enough time. Just on a side note, who else thinks the Tivo unit itself looks like a VCR player? hahahaha

Indeed TiVo does take a LONG time to boot, but you should not normally need to in normal operation. I think I've once done a forced reboot during prime time, since november last year.
Did you know your TiVo will periodically reboot itself overnight when not in use?

Oh yes that thing's a beast. Mine is hidden inside a cabinet with just enough showing for the remote to work.

I wouldn't say that was normal for any kind of financing arrangement. If you bought something from harvery Norman and paid it off over 3 years would you expect different warranty coverage to someone who paid outright?

It is totally different because the 'financier' in this case is telecom, which is the same company you are buying it from. When buying from HN, you use a third party.

Therefore if it fails after 2 years 6 months, you have more leverage on telecom on getting it repaired by them. It would however be covered by the Consumer Guarantees Act for at least 3 years, possbily up to 5, considerings is regular retail price.

I would also argue that any product which is able to be financed should last longer than the finance period. The financier is relying on being able to sell the product if you don't pay so there is no way they would finance something for a longer term than it's expected life.
