WTF My Tivo is recording random shows while we're out. We have like 3 season pass's but ones for opera during the day and the others late at night. Its so far recorded Hells Kitchen, The chopping block, SCU, A dogs show and house guest. All today and one from last night at 11

Is the unit new?  Start using thumbs down before you delete them.  You can turn off TiVo suggestions in the settings if it bothers you. personally I like it as it often records films that I didn't even know were on.

My tivo arrived today. Can anyone recommend an aerial installer in Wellington?

Everything is wired up just needs an aerial, I'm too lazy to do it myself

So is the wireless adapter thing included or not?

And is TiVO a single or dual tuner? Thanks.

Wireless adapter is included. Tivo is dual tuner, plus you can watch a pre-recorded program, while recording two new ones.

1. Yes

2. Dual

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

Cool. In terms of connecting to a Mac and/or PC - can I do one or both for recording transfer? And once transferred - what can I do with it?

Can I for example put it onto my iPad for viewing on the road? Or put it on DVD?

Yes you can choose which device to transfer it for using the Tivo Desktop.
As far as converting the resulting .tivo files that are sitting on your PC, there are very few programmes that will let you convert these, You might find a thread on the forums about it.

This whole home networking thing is painfully slow though. It takes about as long to transfer a show as it takes to watch it and transferring downloaded shows from your PC to the TiVo gives you a pretty fuzzy picture even if the source file is fairly sharp.

Would it not be faster to Google this rather than ask and wait for responses? Tongue out

The problem with Google (yes I do use it) is that "Tivo" as a search term is too generic and yields too much "noise" even when restricting results to NZ.

Therefore I am looking for real user experiences.

Is there any point in transfering to the PC then if there are few programs that can use the file - and how often is DRM/copy protection an issue?

Do you personally transfer and if so to what end do you do this?
