mmmmmm

After years of faithful service I walked in to discover all channels on the TIVO were displaying "Antenna Problems - no signal"  Tried signal strength test, reseated all cables, and as a last resort reset the system.

big mistake evidently

Now the TIVO starts normally, shows the "just a few minutes more" screen, but when it gets to the intro movie, the screen starts dark, and gradually lightens, almost like a "etch o sketch" toy being shaken.

The sounds still work, and the TIVO still makes a "ding" when you press remote buttons, but screen still blank.

Weirdly, I stumbled on a previously recorded program and it played perfectly, just seems to be the UI.

Any clues, or could someone from Hybrid be trawling the threads, that may be able to help me?

Ok strange.

Just in case anyone else has this.

Left power off for 20 minutes - no improvement.

Pressed the FORMAT button on front and the UI magically reappeared.

Now all channels wonky, have 2 of each listed in the guide.

I have since been on the Tivo NZ site, and they advise that Canterbury subscribers might get channels out of whack as they prepare for Analogue TV shutdown.

Maybe this did something to TIVO and it had a wobbly?

Not sure if their frequency work caused it to have a glitch.

But on your dual channels, go into messages & settings -> settings -> channels-> channel list

check which of each 2 has the better signal and deselect the other.
*do not delete the unwanted channels, they will be back tomorrow morning when the TiVo does it's channel scan.

Cheers,
Dan

Thanks Dan

I tried the Guided Startup as per the website, and it cleared all the problems up, touch wood :)

Thanks for your help
