Hi - My Tivo remote has stopped working but luckily (! thought) I have 2 Tivo's and so dug out the other remote (the 2nd Tivo was a $99 re-con special from Noel Leeming) put in some batteries and started clicking but it doesn't seem to work with either Tivo!! The red light comes on when I press a button on the remote but neither Tivo responds (usually a yellow led blinks on the Tivo when you send a command to it)

I restarted both Tivo's and checked for interference  - turned off the Xbox Connect - but still nothing, tried a Harmony 300 remote I have and it works with both Tivo's - the yellow led comes on both of them and it changes the channel on both of them at the same time...grrr

Anybody got any bright ideas what I can check with the Tivo remote - it looks brand new and I have done a reset on it  (TV Power, Tivo button, 3 thumbs down and enter) but still nothing....)-:

One other question - does anyone know what button on a Harmony 300 equals the Tivo button - if I had that I could kind of get by but without it I cant do anything on the Tivo(s) except change channel!!!

thanks martin

You might want to try setting the ID numbers on the remote. If you have two TiVos I assume one is set to ID#1 and the other to ID#2 so that you can control them in the same room. Remember to flick the "1-2" switch on the remote before setting the ID for the second TiVo.

EDIT: just reread you post. You are controlling both rather than neither. The remote ID is set to 0 which any TiVo will respond to.

I was controlling both Tivo's from the same remote, changing the DVR switch from 1 to 2 until that remote decided to just up and die )-:

So the Tivo's will still be set to ID#1 and ID#2 but surely the 'new' remote should work on at least one of them ?

Might be ordering anothe remote from tivo.com.au but I notice it could be up to 10 working days...argh!! Family will mutiny...

The new remote will have both switch positions set to ID 0, which any TiVo, even those set to another ID, will respond to.
Follow these instructions.
