Now that Telecom has launched VDSL, can anyone confirm whether those that currently have their broadband usage unmetered (due to having TiVo on their account) will still remain unmetered once they switch over to VDSL?

I'm in this boat at the moment. VDSL installation is on Thursday. So.... I'll let you know on Friday if it's still unmetered.

To take a punt, I assume (very dangerous word) it will stay unmetered as it's a billing issue and not a delivery issue.

I am in the same position, and have signed up for the 500gb plan just in case. My install is Tuesday PM so will let you know on Wednesday.

Here's hoping that it doesn't change! But from the viewpoint of its nice not having to worry about a cap rather than being a leech.

Currently unmetered due to Tivo. Cut over to VDSL on Monday, and no usage reported yet. Month rolls over on 21st, so we'll see if anything shows after that, but I'd suspect that it will remain unchanged, as I'd imagine the usage meter doesn't care what technology you used to get to the front door.

They can hardly start charging you for tivo data though, when it was advertised as being unmetered. Not unless they have worked out how to divide the two, but it would be pretty difficult to tell unless you were downloading a lot of tivo content.

I fail to understand why you still need the TiVo unmetered these days with large Telecom data plans. I'm on Telecom and my TiVo is not unmetered.. There's nothing to download on TiVo and the EPG updates take up near zero data..

Enlighten me pleaze..

I don't need it at all. Like you, I don't download anything through it, apart from the tiny EPG data. However, Telecom decided to unmeter affected accounts while they sorted out their billing issues. It doesn't bother me either way, but I wasn't given an option whether I wanted this to happen or not :)

As long as the CSR doesn't remove the TiVo aspect of your account this will remain unchanged.

It was the deal. Unmetered access for TiVo content for Telecom customers who purchased a TiVo directly from Telecom (online or store) via their Telecom home phone line.

I assume (ouch word) that TiVo's aquired from any other source or not linked to your Telecom home phone line at time of purchase would not have had the the unmetered usage offer.

Agreed, TiVo is the last platform I would download content from these days. Only used to pull the EPG now.

... Still, uncapped data on VDSL.... :)

The sun is shining on me today. VDSL just installed. 45 Down 9 up. Uncapped at $85 / month.

Better than a Woo Hoo tax return.
