On TiVo
I can get TV1 , TV2 and their +1s but almost all others come up with "trying to find the signal" message on the screen, or a pixelated image. and their EPG has "to be announced" with no channel name!!

I've tried rescanning channels , signal strength on the bad channels are 75 ish. Good channels are 85ish.

On our freeview TV I get all channels no problem and they are clear.

Both TVs are fed off the same signal Amp/booster and same aerial.

Has anyone had this problem today?

Edit - : Ok all channel listings are all there now. Dont know what happened..

But stil bad pixilation reception/recording on TV3 and +1 and on prime and choice.

I suspect you have an aerial problem. TiVo does not have the best of tuners. I used to have problems with all Mediaworks channels until I got the aerial seen to..

Thanks. I suspected as much. the UHF has 8 elements, horizontal and aimed at and has LOS of Waitakeres, we live in Ellerslie, Ak. But we needed an amp a few years ago so maybe the aerial or signal has deteriated over time

Did the new aerial fix the problem?

I also have issues with TV3, 4 3+1 etc for a few weeks with a gradual degradation (pixels\blocking) then down to nothing :(

Bizarrely, Tivo will record 3 news, but as soon as I turn on the TV then I lose the image on the recording and it says "unable to find signal" etc and the EPG will disappear with the "To be Announced" page. I can't, therefore, watch TV and record on TV3 at the same time!

The Signal quality is Green but only 70, whereas Maori TV is 90 and Tv1\2 is 85. Have tried Device diagnostics, but don't get any response with this (blank page on this channel as if receiving no signal) and swapped out all the cables but this made no difference. Have completed channel scan and rescan (in case it moved) and even restarted the Tivo! (yes I know it isn't Windows).

We have had some wicked storms in the last few months in Welly so am thinking replacing the aerial is next as it is 10+ years old.

Any further ideas\suggestions?

Also - have a Series 1 Tivo that is sitting gathering dust if this is useful to someone, let me know.

Haven't replaced the aerial yet because all except prime and choice on TiVo are ok now. Those two have 70 sig strength rest is up in the 85,90s. I'm using sky for prime in the meantime and it's fine. And our other tv freeview is fine.

Solved the problem finally (or the Aerial repair guy did ;) )- I had at some stage thought: "Hey we dont use VHS anymore so why power it. So I unplugged it. But didn't think that because the RF lead looped through the VHS box that un-powering it would attenuate the signal enough to hurt the signal quality. And because all other house TVs and sky box were BEFORE the de-powered VHS box, but my TiVo box was AFTER it only affected the TiVo. For some reason the 666MHz channels but not the rest were more affected. (Maybe because thats the evil frequency - 666 !! :)

Edit: The reason for the bad image quality Im told is: The 666MHz frequency being at the top of the spectrum in my area, requires more line of sight so is attenuated by the houses and hills a bit more. Which was just enough loss of signal to push the tuner over the line. ie it couldn't compensate any more and so bad image.

Anyway that fixed it but I replaced the very old rusted mast and twice broken/repaired UHF aerial - and chucked the VHF.

Lesson learnt.

This sounds like the TV is causing RF interference to the TiVo. How is the antenna connected to the TiVo? Is the RF out of the TiVo connected to the TV?

You may end up needing a RF High Pass filter.
