"The TiVo media device will be available as a bundle for NZ$920 and includes a TiVo 320 Media Device"

Wow. So expensive. It's a wonder they sold any of them. I bought mine for $299 about 3 years ago..

Sadly with the PVR market at the time being relatively unheard of in NZ it was only going to be early adopters who were going to buy it - especially at $920. Coupled with how it was only sold through Telecom offering "zero data" as TiVo required a net connection (for the EPG) gave many the idea all broadcast programming was streamed and you needed Telecom broadband to be able to afford the data. Freeview was relatively new to NZ so the scary world of digital TV in its infancy put many off as well. Sigh.

Selling it through Telecom stores, plus as noted above the "bundle up" with Telecom free broadband gave the wrong impression. Even recently we still have to point to people that no, you don't need a Telecom account to have a TiVo.

Stupid marketing.
