I have been given a Tivo which is showing an MAK on its Menu.

The key that is used for the Home Network Package.

I already have the Home Network - I bought it on the very last day and wouldn't be without it.

When I started the new one, I checked and the media Key is different on my units and the new Tivo. So it is a genuine MAK.

So the question is; What to do? I don't need another Home Network package, but I am sure someone else does.

Do I deactivate it and put it to work on my Home Network or leave as it is?

From my understanding you would also need the MyTiVo account details i.e email address & password that the MAK is registered to for it to be usable. If you have those then it could be merged to some one else's MyTiVo account.  Until you deactivate & reregister the new TiVo onto your MyTivo account surely you won't be able access it via TiVo genie or your home network package ?

the HNP is linked to an account, not a particular TIVO, so if you have a current HNP linked to your account then any future TIVO's added to that account will also have HNP access, the TIVO you have acquired sound like it is still linked to someone else's account, it needs to be deactivated or unlinked from this account before it can be added to your account
