Hi there,

I have stuck with my TIVO as I love it and have been using it by manually recording programmes by day and time.  It's obviously not as ideal as it used to be but it worked ok.  Now with daylight saving the TIVO clock has not updated its time.  The TIVO won't connect to the Network anymore (although a house move and change of internet provider could be an implicating factor).  And I cannot find a way to change the clock on it myself.

I can see from the forum here that people have come up with fixes which is great.

Can I simply fix the time issue for now?

Where would I get the new Chip and go about upgrading it?  If I am upgrading it I would be interested in expanding the hard drive.  Currently the Tivo is as purchased with no modifications and 6 years old.  Only issue other than the TIVO service finishing is the feet have disintegrated.  I'm in the Hawke's Bay.  I'm not an IT expert but can follow things quite well once I know what things are and what's needed.  I know the chip would have to be soldered in - is this something you can do yourself?  What kind of soldering iron is used please, as my Dad may well have the right one.  The inside is bound to need a clean if it's being opened too haha.

Anyway I'd greatly appreciate any help, especially if someone can coach me through it all.  There's no rush.  I'm just so happy to see others are sticking by their TIVOs as lets face it they are the best!

Thank you.

Have a look at other thread New Life for Tivo S3. Several people on there are providing cost effective chip service or you can do it yourself, though probably not with a soldering iron.

Sorry I don't know about the clock issue, I'd recommend getting this chip done to (mostly) restore the TiVo to it's former glory.

There's a list of upgrade providers at the top of this forum.

I just noticed that my chipped TiVo is still on winter time. My wife watches Masterchef Ozz and noticed it was recording at 6.30 rather than 7.30. I did a reboot but still the same. Will we have to wait until Ozz changes this weekend?

The EPG is and hour early.

Still using unmodded TiVo on manual recordings. Just changed all recordings -1 hour. Job done. Still life in the ole girl yet.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation
