I am running thru the 'herd' giving each a test run in case I find a needy soul to wants the best recorder around and have discovered a peculiarity not noticed before:

 

I usually just have 'Greg' 2TB running for longtime storage stuff and 'Jane' for day to day use.  Both their RTCs are correct within 1 minute.

 

The first one from the herd I started up yesterday has now done two mother-ship updates but the RT clock is still 5 minutes fast.

 

Thinking this was an aberration, I started up another this morning and it is 9 minutes fast. 

 

If I whip out the MB battery will this fix the problem?

 

Any ideas, please.

You may want to remove and test the CR2035 batteries as they could be needing replacement being 10x years old. All stubborn RTC issues have been fixed in my experience by doing this, and if necessary 1 or 2 connections to the EPG mothership which you can do manually from the Network menu.

 

This of course assumes your Tivos have been modified with a new PROM and community software update. If not, your RTC is doomed to be inaccurate forever.

Thank you for those suggestions.  I have a pack of batteries so will try that tomorrow.

 

My units have been modded here in Christchurch by Skolink and I have not noticed this problem before now.

 

Will let you know result.

 

I thought that the time was obtained from mother-ship.  Maybe not.

Well, that did not go at all well.

 

Current date both units is 1 Jan 2003

 

Is the get_date_from_mother-ship function working?

 

I think not.

 

The unit most recently unplugged remembered the network setting but the date is blaaaaah with new batteries installed.

 

Help needed.  Texted Skolink a few days back but no reply, may be busy with something.

Modified Tivos most certainly get their time updated from the OzTivo server, but it may take a couple of manual connection attempts, maybe even over a couple of days. I've never had a unit that didn't update correctly and I've modified and checked well over 300 of them so far. Don't give up just yet. I'd be very surprised if this problem doesn't correct itself as long as you have a reliable internet connection.

I've messaged your TSN number and will see what they come back with. This could take a few days. Other suggestions would be a new clean patched Tivo image run with a guided setup or full clear and delete, assuming you don't have a MAK or recordings you need to keep.

Thanks for your help here.  I assume this could be part of a larger picture

 

This is a 'spare' unit only 5 minutes out originally so could try but other was 9 minutes out. Date on other unit is the same.

 

Can reload hacked good copy and do C&D, have all tools available, but will wait to see what they suggest before trying that.  

 

I am Windows/DOS compatible but Linux deficient, sorry.

Umm, I'm not sure how to say this.  I had a hissy-fit and unplugged the offending unit and

 

put it aside about 19:06

 

Then I got another couple of TiVo's out and put them on test, all fine, data loads, date fine to the minute

 

Then I put them away again, got the offender out, plugged it in and let it boot up, check the system info

 

and the Today's Date had changed to Jun 11, 2019........ wot!!!!!!!

 

So those guys are pretty good, fixed the problem while it was unplugged.

 

Well done, all and thanks for help.

 

Solution is, unplug it, ignore it for four or five hours then plug it back in.  Clock fixed!
