I am not a TiVo beta tester - probably because they knew some of their services were going to Telecom customers only and so cut some of us from the trials. But I still got this email today:

Please allow me to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt thanks for your willingness to be one of our highly valued Beta testers.  It is because of you, your participation and excellent reporting of issues, perceptions and results that we can deliver high quality and desirable products, and fix or enhance existing products quickly.  We appreciate you and feel extremely fortunate to have you as customers and partners.

From time to time, it is necessary to update and supplement the information you provide us about your home audio/visual and entertainment configuration, network connectivity, and usage of various devices and services.  Please take a few moments to complete the Supplemental Profile Survey (under Survey in the left navigation) at https://fieldtrials.tivo.com at your earliest convenience.  This will help us in selecting participants for upcoming Beta programs, so it is critical that you provide this information.

Also, as you purchase new equipment and TVs, change your address or TV programming provider, it is important that you update your profiles on the Beta portal as well (https://fieldtrials.tivo.com.)
Thanks again for joining the TiVo Field Trials community.  We look forward to working with you in the future.

[edit: Im with Telecom broadband]

+1 getting the email thanking me for my "participation and excellent reporting of issues, perceptions and results".

I was accepted onto the beta trial, given a login, TSN, and other information, and an expected ship date for my TiVo trial unit, then taken off the trial, then told I was on it, then confirmed I was off it, then asked to do my beta trial homework.

Then this...

Comes across as a poorly managed trial that's for sure.

+1 with xnet.

I'm not bothering to go and update my details either. Looks like they spammed everyone that registered as I was never told I was a beta trialist.

i'm a Telecom subscriber and have had similar experiences to Tony. Off, on you are getting a box, you aren't, thanks for your submissions etc.

Ironically I just felt, I mean, found this email in my quarantine do to it being "heartfelt" which is a common word used by spammers like cialis, [ialis, c?alis viagra, \/iagra, v.agra, v1agra, viagr4.... You get the picture..

I'm now in a right mind to hack the thing now, if i ever see it which has so far proved to be betavapour.

What all of you may have missed, is an apology email that was sent out afterwards. I think the email that you were sent, was organised by TiVo USA, and not TiVo NZ/AUS.
I am not sure exactly, as I am at work now.

I received the mentioned email but have not received an apology email, until I read this forum I thought I was in the running to be a beta tester.

They may not know, here in NZ, that everyone who applied for beta testing got an email? And the apology was only sent to all of the current beta testers... but I am only guessing.

No. I applied to be a beta tester and never got the above email.

So they send an email to non-testers, and send the apology to testers only? What a way to not get friends...
